Every time I helped my sister Laura move I noticed a GIANT map!   She always decorated her walls with a map or two.  Then I came across this amazing DIY!

A memento,

A litttle something I whipped up for my sisters, a pocket locket.

 

I bought a simple pocket watch at Walmart.

 The Pocket watch only cost $12.96, so there was no stress as I pulled the back off.

 I quickly pulled out all the components, and saved them in case they were necessary later.

 

The finished product was perfect, and is now a treasured photo.

Have you ever felt so held back that you could not function?  I have felt that way for some time now.  I NEED a new camera.  Just like your car needs brakes to stop, and gasoline to go, I need a camera!  I am happy to announce!!! I ordered the Canon 7D!

 It should arrive this Friday!  I'm so excited that I have decided to revamp my entire camera bag situation and make my own camera strap too!  This is the camera bag I fell in love with about a year ago... I'm leaning towards the red one personally.

The thought being it, looks just like a purse, then I can carry my camera with me more often and get ALL the shots I miss cause all I have is my darn cell phone.  I recently made a special camera strap for my sis Laura (with whom I share this blog)  that looks just like this....

Sorry this photo is not the best... I took it with the iPhone, hence my point is only driven home by the fact that my current camera only has sharp photos every third shot (very un-full filling for a photographer).   Gosh!  The excitement is too much to handle!  

Long time coming

 The obsession will not end... I am still caught up in the grip of the clutches.  I have a seemingly simple pattern that I want to design but perfection eludes me.  Not that I don't have enough plates spinning right now I get stumped by a simple pattern for a fabled clutch, that I have promised to make, yet have not gotten the dimensions and tension figured out yet.  If I were to describe the process of pattern making when it comes to a small nine inch crescent shaped purse frame one word comes to mind... Unforgiving.  The tolerances are tricky, too tight and the clutch only holds one coin, too loose and you have folds of fabric that clearly display your mistake.  To say the least each and every one of my clutches has taken some time, passion, and design.  The process of knitting/ crocheting a clutch began in December of 2008.  I made a small knit/ crochet clutch for my sister Jill.  With much thought and design I came up with this small beauty, adorned by a vintage broach from my grandmother's collection.  See all the design details here.

  

I return to the thoughts of that simple design often and wonder if it should be revisited?  I still love it and vowed to make identical one for myself, yet I am hemmed in by this elusive new design!
